Improving the Single-Slope Solar Still Performance Using Solar Air Heater with Phase Change Materials

This communication discusses the energy, exergy, and economic feasibility of novel heat storage based on a single-slope solar still coupled with air heater (SAH). The analysis was conducted three different stills, i.e., (SSSS), latent storage, heater. performance evaluation all types has been compared to evaluate best-performing still. Paraffin wax as phase change material (PCM) used at bottom provide proper thermal storage. experiments were depths, 3 cm, 6 9 12 15 cm. efficiency PCM SAH 65.58% higher than conventional average exergy is 83.19% traditional Additionally, maximum hourly output found be 735 mL/m2 h for customized depth shows that (single-slope heater) other two stills. Therefore, proposed very suitable desalination.
